In Greek mythology, Echo was in love with Narcissus, but Narcissus was cursed to only love himself. He died just admiring his own reflection in a pool of water. I thought Echo would return to where Narcissus had died and try to see his reflection in the water. Imitating her lost love, Echo tries to kiss him, only to kiss an illusion of herself.
